Femme Fetale Haul & Swatches

Femme Fatale are a mineral based cosmetics company based in Australia. You can find their website here

I recently came across the company and was amazed at their range of duochrome eyeshadows. I'm a huge huge sucker for indie products and loose eyeshadows, add a duochrome into that list and I'm sold!

They offer free international shipping (which is amazing!) for all sample orders. Samples come in baggies with 1/8tsp of product - enough to get a good feel for the shadow. They do two sampler packs - 5 shadows for $5.50 or 10 shadows for $11.

I ordered 10 samples on 19th March and they arrived with me on the 28th - a great turn-around time for a indie brand! Included in the package was a freebie sample (mine was Deepmoss) and a sticker.

Femme Fatale samples & freebie
Each sample has a sticker with the name and ingredients list, and whether or not the shadow is vegan and/or lip safe.

The quality of these shadows are fantastic and I will definitely be ordering more over the coming weeks. Application is smooth, they're pigmented and there is a fantastic array of colours available on their website. The free shipping on samples is a huge huge pro too! The only shade I feel slightly lets the side down is Nexus which doesn't quite adhere as much as the others do - these could be solved by using a sticky base or using the shade wet.

And now, on to the swatches! All swatches are done over bare skin. The captions are descriptions from Femme Fatale's website of each shade.

Moonglow - 'pale columbia blue with a prominent golden duochrome and subtle pink shimmer'
The Masquerade - 'soft, silvery grey with very subtle pink shimmer, yet when applied the base comes out more purple/blue and the pink shift is also more noticeable'
Desecration - 'a striking bright green shimmer over a base mixed of cool grey, subtle brown and pearly purple tones'
Illusions - 'a brown based shade with a hint of auburn undertones, and teal duochrome finish'
Nexus - 'a deep navy with teal tones and brilliant red shimmers and sparks'
Deepmoss - 'a deep navy blue base with a satin smooth green>blue colour shifting shimmer'
Demon Soul - 'a black based shade with a colour-shifting finish, going from green through to red/pink depending on the angle of the light'
Phantasm - 'a pale purple with violet tones and copper orange shimmer'
Velvet Fog - 'a taupe purple base that is hard to describe – it also looks grey/blue because of the aqua shimmer over the top'
The Nightmare - 'an eggplant purple base with intense golden green glimmers and sparkles'
Impsy - 'a rich mulberry purple with strong red tones and golden shimmer'
Overall, I am very impressed with the Femme Fatale eyeshadows that I've tried and I'll definitely be adding some more to my collection. Faves are: Impsy, The Masquerade and Desecration.

Darling Girl Haul & Swatches

I love Darling Girl; they offer some really unique and complex shades and are fantastic quality.

I took advantage of their 10 petit jars for $23.75 offer, I also specifically held back my order for a couple of days to get the following week's GWP (called Eclipse). I love the fact that the GWP is made known and perhaps, like it did for me, compel you to make an order.

The turn around time was great- I ordered on the 15th January and my shadows reached me in the UK on the 1st February. I also received two free sample baggies with my order as well.

Trust Fund - pale cream gold with pink sparkle that couldn't quite be captured by the camera

Fyrinnae Swatches: Part VI

Here is part six of my Fyrinnae swatches - find their website here and more information here.

Darling Girl Swatches

Darling Girl is an amazing indie company; they offer a huge range of loose eyeshadows as well as lip and face products.

Their eyeshadows are $5.90 for a full sized shadow, and $2.50 for a petit jar. They also offer samples in baggies which are $5 for 5 samples (with a limit of two sets per order). The website states 'full sizes are packaged in 5g jars with approximately 3/4 tsp of product. Petits are packaged in 3g jars with approximately 1/4 tsp of product. Samples are packaged in 2x2 zip lock baggies with approximately 1/8 tsp of product.

There are choose your own sets available; a set of 10 petits with an offer of a 5% discount, and a set of 10 full size shades with a 10% discount. You also recieve a GWP which is advertised in the left hand column on the webpage; each GWP runs for around a week.

The shadows are absolutely amazing quality and are easily comparable to the likes of Fyrinnae; the shades are so complex and there are many duochromes and unique colours.

Hold Back The Rain - this is such a gorgeous grey with a golden sheen and tons of pink sparkle

My Pretty Zombie

I've been looking at My Pretty Zombie on Etsy for a while. I ordered 6 samples to try; they came in baggies and cost a total of $6 (minus shipping). A set of three samples costs $3. Full sizes of each shadow are $5; this is for a 5 gram jar without a sifter and an approximate product weight of 1.5g.

There are some interesting, but slightly morbid, names like Rabid Weasel, Kidney Punch and Rabies. I narrowed down my choices to Law Firm Lamb Cake, Wicked Crochet, Gangrenous, Mad Cow, Hoof and Mouth, and Anthrax; the last three being part of the Husbandry Affliction collection.

Fyrinnae Loose Shadows: Review

One of my all time loves has to be Fyrinnae. I cannot rave enough about how amazing this indie brand is. Fyrinnae is only sold online at their website here, and good news- they ship worldwide!

They do a range of products, thought I (surprisingly) have only ever tried their loose eyeshadows and Arcane Magics- I really should change that someday!

Their shadows are fantastic quality with superb pigmentation and are very affordable; each shade is so unique you could spend hours dazed by the complexity. A full sized jar is approximately 3 grams in weight and priced at $6.25; they also sell sample jars for $2.25 which contains approximately 1/3 tsp for their regular loose shadows and 1/4 tsp for their Arcane Magic shades. Their samples sizes are very generous and will last you absolutely ages (they estimate 20-40 uses).

Best worn over their Pixie Epoxy, the description on their website states: 'This is not an eye shadow primer, or really a base. It is to keep sparkles on and/or to make shimmery shadows appear "glossy": a foiled look without foiling.
Originally developed and formulated in 2007, this unique "glue" is designed to hold the sparkliest, most shimmery eye shadows in place, minimize "fallout", and also to easily create a foiled look without foiling.

With a range of matte to shimmer to glitter, and a huge selection of colours, Fyrinnae truly has something to suit everyone's tastes.

Fyrinnae Swatches: Part I

I absolutely adore Fyrinnae loose shadows; their products are only available online here, and they ship worldwide. Find more information in my review here.

This post is the first of seven with all my Fyrinnae swatches - it is not complete by far, there are many of their current line that I do not have but I do plan on getting more and as soon as I do they will be swatched and added to the collection.

Sugarpill Chromalust Swatches: Lumi, Goldilux and Darling

Sugarpill's Chromalusts retail for $12.00 for a 5g jar. (Clicking on the name of each shade will take you to the corresponding page on Sugarpill's website). Sugarpill ships worldwide.

Lumi: 'Snow white with turquoise sheen and flashing bursts of blue and green. When worn over a dark base, this complex white transforms itself into your new favorite blue eyeshadow.'

Goldilux: 'Brilliant, highly-reflective metallic gold with breathtaking shine. The brightest gold you’ve ever seen.'

Darling: 'Stunning teal loaded with iridescent turquoise star bursts.

'These shadows are fantastic quality with amazing pigmentation. There is so much product in a 5g jar it will last forever and, as always with loose eyeshadows, a little goes a long way. The colours are amazing- Lumi is a beautiful white with a bright blue sheen; Goldilux is breathtaking, a true metallic gold which would look amazing used wet as a liner; and Darling is a lovely teal filled with turquoise sparkle.

The Chequered Lily Swatches

I recently came across The Chequered Lily on Etsy; I was soon intrigued and ordered a set of 10 samples. The samples cost $5.50 for 10 samples of your choice plus $1.40 for international shipping ($1 for shipping within the US). The turnaround time was very quick, I ordered on the 15th, the samples were shipped on the 16th and arrived on the 23rd. Included was also 2 freebie samples. The samples do come in baggies which aren't my personal preference as I'd rather jars or clamshells. They did, however, contain a fair amount of product, I'd estimate around 1/8 of a teaspoon.
